How are you?
Hi, Vision! How’s it going?
Hi Gina, was another good week. I’m trying to finish staining the deck and the weather has been terrible for it. Have 6 more boards to go and no idea when it will be done. Made some lemon chicken this week.
You?
Oh, that’s frustrating. So close to finishing the job, and yet so FAR. :-) Keith’s been staining, too. We got our back patio screened in, and he’s been staining the wood.
Otherwise we’re doing fine. Lemon chicken sounds great!
We’re gonna make some Philly cheese steak-type sandwiches this evening.
Evening, folks.
Hi, Viking! How’s everything going?
A screened in back porch sounds good.
Hey there...
It TOTALLY ROCKS! The cats love it, too.
Pretty good, I suppose. Got the yard cut just in time, before TS Fred started spitting rain. Gonna throw a 3 lb. T-bone on the grill if the weather cooperates. Mom had a setback a couple of days ago - they found her sitting in her chair in her room, shaking and unable to talk. They ruled out sepsis and a stroke, so they’re still testing and doing an MRI. She’s not progressing with rehab, and Medicare will only pay for a 100 day stay, then they go for your SS and can put a lien on the house. My sister talked to a social worker, and they decided to take her to Pittsburgh with them, where she can get in-home care and my sister and her husband can help with her rehab. Both of them work from home a lot, so someone will be with her 24/7. It’ll give my other sister a break until Mom comes home. They opted not to put her in any facility in Pittsburgh, because none of them are highly rated. To top it all off, Connie’s brother is in the hospital with double pneumonia, his wife and six kids of various parentage all got diagnosed with the Wu Flu, plus my other sister’s boyfriend is self-quarantined with it, as well. I’m staying indoors until 2030. Beer delivery can’t be that expensive.
Damn. I’m not sure what to say...try a reverse sear on that tbone? (: Prayers out to everyone.
Oh, man, I’m sorry about your Mom, Viking. But I’m glad to know she’ll be with family and not in a “place.”
Fred isn’t anywhere near land yet, and it doesn’t look like anything on the radar. These junior commies who worship “climate change” will give any low pressure system a name. Just because. :-/
‘Reverse sear’?
Start the steak off by cooking it indirectly. When it gets close to your desired temp cook it directly to get a sear on it.
Ah. Doing that. Got two pans of grilling veggies beside it - asparagus, sweet onion, sweet bell pepper, zucchini, and squash. This thing is big enough to feed three people. I set it off to the side and will sear it on the bottom grate when it’s cooked right inside.
Sounds good. It’s a good time to get some smoke on it if you can.
I got chicken to smoke. It’s getting kinda late and she has to work tomorrow. I have bags of hickory and peachwood chips hiding around here somewhere...........Hmmm. I wonder what smoked peaches would taste like.
