Let’s be honest. This would have happened under any presidents watch. That’s why everyone from Bush to Trump punted on leaving that hell hole. They all knew it would fall back under Taliban control. Just glad it happened on sleepy Joe’s watch.

The reality is that the Bush/Cheney administration is ultimately the most responsible for this (with every Presidential administration after also having made bad choices), but they will never accept any blame for 20 years of hell. And while they have to keep up some appearances, they can’t be too hard on Team Biden for messing up the actual withdrawal because they did everything they could to get him elected. Biden is their baby. So, they try to shift the focus to Trump for the negotiation and decision to leave. That’s all they’ve got.
Under Trump it wouldn’t have happened; he had the Taliban in his sights and would have used several drones to take them out. Media of course would be horrified over the killing.
