China alters medal count to include Hong Kong, Taiwan to unofficially claim gold medal dominance over US

Team USA dominated the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, winning both the overall medal count handily and gold medal tally, but Chinese state media has altered those figures in a way to assert itself as the gold medal leader.

Images from the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, and China Central Television have circulated on Twitter this week showing an altered medal count that includes hardware taken home by Hong Kong and Taiwan, according to multiple reports.

Under the IOC rules Hong Kong and Taiwan, referred to as Chinese Taipei, compete independently as National Olympic Committees.

The deceptive ploy improved China’s tally from 38 gold, 32 silver, and 18 bronze medals (88 overall) to 41, 37, and 27, respectively, for an overall count of 106 medals.

Sure China, now try medals as a percentage of population and see how you do.

Okay...we’ll take Canada, Mexico, Central and South America. So there!

Well, not so fast. Iran and Afghanistan have altered their combined medal count to include the USA as part of their conquered territories, and they now lead the gold medal counts.

Except Canada, Mexico, Central America have never been part of the USA, and Hong Kong was and is part of China from long long ago.
Not sure what Fox is moaning about.

Including Hong Kong and Taiwan sort of gives Red China more competitors in events than any other nation. Three times as many in some events. But, nevermind.

Heck, maybe the UK should also claim the metals won by the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and they’d win going away.

China hasn’t had an original thought since days of Genghis Kahn and its run by a bunch of thugs with a pathological collective inferiority complex. China would annex and include Bermuda in a revised medal count if China thought it would make it look better than the U.S.

More correctly, we should include Puerto Rico and any athletes who train or play mostly in the USA or its territories.

IF the IOC had any stones, they’d tell China to repudiate this or China is excluded, next Summer go ‘round, and the 2022 Winter Olympics will be moved back a year and held in Sapporo!

Birds of a feather: Chinese Media, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, New York Times, Washington Post. They all know that the stupid people will all believe what they say. Isn’t it a wonderful world when manipulation is so easy and so effective. Congratulations to the PRC for their Olympic achievements, but they haven’t finished. Many American medal winners are Chinese heritage. Those numbers should count for China as well. I’m sure that the American media will help the Chinese setting the record straight.
