Rescinding the 17th. is more important now then it ever been ... We desperately need to find someway to break up this mess DC has become...
I think it would definitively help. That’s for sure. If it were gone, Republicans would solidly be in the 60s.
And there would be a bit more accountability to who they are and what they’re doing.
Yes, rescind the 17th, but don’t look for Congress (which includes the US Senate) to ever do that.
Originally, as some people here may not know, the US Senate represented the States (you know, the United STATES of America). The state legislatures elected the senators.
Then the 17th Amendment was allegedly ratified and senators were elected by popular vote by the people and became glorified representatives.
Then big money bought whatever senators it wanted to buy. And it bought up all of them. Occasionally one goes off script here and there, but the uniparty can count on almost all of them to line up and vote for what big money wants on the truly important votes.
