Speedweek land speed racing streaming live from Bonneville Salt Flats now.
Always wanted to go there… Back in my youth, I had muscle cars. Loved my Fords, loved my Pontiacs also.
This is the first time I’ve seen it live streamed. The guy is doing an amazing job, covering the event.
Any fast electrics there? 🤓
Track is on hold, probably weather.
We just had a big storm blow through North Idaho — lots of wind, dark skies, thunder but only a few drops of rain. I think the weather is unsettled in Utah as well (700 miles from here).
I seriously miss the days when I could buy a used Pontiac or Ford muscle car fir a couple hundred bucks and run it on Friday and Saturday nights down at the waterfront in Philly…
I’ve had about 27 cars in my lifetime, ranging from absolute beaters to pretty decent stuff and all points in between.
There’s nice retro muscle out there now, but it’s beyond most working guys’ reach; gone are the days when you buy a 68 fastback ‘stang or 70 GTO Judge for 400 bucks, go to Bash Speed Shop and massage it a little and have a weekend race car.
Watched “ Ford vs Ferrari” a few weeks back, and boy did that bring back memories… I miss THAT America. It was a much better place than now.
electric vehicles at Bonneville
They have a class for them to run in.
If there is a /E in the number of the car it is an electric car. FYI
Ping speed
Hanging out in different friend's garages was a thing.
I miss those days too.
People were free back then.
Who knew we would end up living George Orwell's 1984.
🙄
Yeah, all of hoodlum friends back in late 70s/early 89s Philly we’re greasemonkies too. We all knew how to keep our cars running out of necessity and because none of of us had any money.
But life was good and the future only extended as far as the weekend… and chasing your favorite skirt…
Got a link for the replays?
Facebook page. Scroll dowm a bit and you can see the live link. He said today was the last day he wpuld be streaming from Bonneville
