Atlantic City Boardwalk (1965).
Just over a year since The Beatles swept America. Hot dogs were still 10 cents (or 15 cents for the foot-longs). Of course there was skee-ball with the attendant cheap prizes. Most women in dresses (and some in high heels). I was still two years old that summer so one of the children being pushed in a stroller might have been me.
Check out the Blue rolling chairs.
well dressed. black and white. lots of older folks.
born in 62 and we always vacationed at the jersey shore. i didn’t see my family. those days are gone.
Brings back memories - saw Granddad’s hotel in one shot.
1959, and you may have seen my Mother taking the 3 year old me for a walk, literally on a leash!
—
Oh that was you? We always laughed at the little kid on the leash. HHAHAHAHA
Wonder what the burlesque show was like, lol? Would not mind trying the candied apples and salt water taffy
—
the first was rip off, the 2nd and 3rd were wonderful
Just like I remember it, although I was waist-high at the time.
I was there in 1965, and could have been in that video. My granddad owned a beach front house in Margate, near the line with Ventnor, and I used to stay there in the Summer. Even when I was only 12, used to walk all the way up the boardwalk to the Steel Pier and spend the day there. That was a far different world than we have today. I remember in ‘65 peeking through a curtain and watching the older kids dancing in their Nehru Jackets to “Satisfaction” at Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Maybe it was that day, or another that Summer, but I remember watching The Four Seasons from the side balcony in the Steel Pier music hall.
What can you say? America is gone. All we can do is hold on to it the best we can in our own close in environment.
lol!
Wife and I go there several times a year. Casinos are ok, but the boardwalk is a freakshow and 1 block off Atlantic Avenue you are taking your life into your hands.
We CAN get it back, but everyone has a Democrat that they think should be spared...
That worry has crossed my mind too.
The past is a different country. They do things differently there.
