And now since the election and the witch hunt from the government a bunch more have opted out. Participation dropped like a rock. Many are afraid to participate because it is wide open for public view. They feel they can’t speak freely anymore without possible future repercussions.

We are an older crowd now. Many of the Freepers I met in DC during the 1998 March for Justice are in their 70s and 80s now. Some have passed on.

I would say the average age here is pretty high and that most all of us are eligible for Social Security. Hopefully there are some younger ones coming in but by their standards, the web interface here is just primitive. Many of us here like this interface just fine but try to see this site as an instagramming, tick-tocking, facebooking 30-year old would see it.

Though I did amaze the hell out of one of my sons when I was able to describe how to properly size an image using HTML code. The look he gave me was similar to the look I would have gotten if I told him my wife and I were headed to the Lollapalooza festival.

Also, FR has, in some ways, become a parody of itself. Everpresent freepathons. Conspiracy theorists. Endless vanities in news/breaking news.

Especially the flood of drug pushers/addicts under the guise of "libertarians."

This place has changed and sometimes people just need a break from the internet.
