“JFK, Jr. comes to mind.”
Alaska pilots methinks were around 1,000,000,000,000 x more competent than the Kennedy dork.

I am sure you are right.

He had no business flying at night.

Just because you can afford an airplane doesn’t mean you should fly one.

What a shame.

This methinks ...

After covid shut down most of these tourist supported business for over a year. Those pilots had to go elsewhere.
This was likely a green pilot that hadn’t flown the crash area much.

On the Alaska Aircrash Investigations series they followed a similar incident, crash while scudrunning on a short hop. Smithsonian channel, Series 1 Episode 1. Turned out air taxi pilot had a commercial but very limited instrument competence, etc. She was recently licensed, recently arrived from the lower 48. So don’t be so sure about every pilot in Alaska. I watched it and was appalled at the pilot lack of actual flying qualifications and experience. Right there with JFK Jr, incompetent on instruments and overconfident in intermittent IMC / scudrunning.
