I would venture to say that he has the most photographed and recognizable hands in the world.

Had an MP on my base in the 1960's do that. He'd cleared his duty 1911A1 hundreds, maybe thousands of times that way.

It only blew a hole through his palm once.

Nah. He knows about carrying one, or using one in a pistol match. For someone who knows how to use one in the days when it was the best autopistol in use [still awfully good!] See William Ewett Fairbairn or Rex Applegate.
