Historically, the “useful idiots” are the true believers. They are the social-activists on the street.
The people pulling the useful-idiot’s strings are the power-grabbers. They are manipulators. True-believers are easily manipulated. They are the best kind.
If you can keep them in the fold after the revolution, throw them a bone. See if they will accept totalitarian state powers and still believe it’s for the greater good. If they don’t, clean up the mess. No loose ends. It usually takes a different sort than the ‘true believers’ to be the bureaucratic enforcement class.
If you make the useful-idiots believe in the cause, they will do your bidding like good true-believers. The trick is to find their pet causes and to associate it with your power grabbing goals.
The marxists know this nation has to be torn down before it can be controlled.
The real question is, how many layers are there.
Personally, I suspect the marxist power grabbers aren’t even at the top, although they plan to be.
