California will begin enforcing an animal welfare proposition approved overwhelmingly by ***voters***.
Any questions why California is such a s**t hole state of all the problems the state has they select that to be a major issue.
Stupidity on the march

The Law extends to Ag Business operations outside of CA.
If the Voters in CA want to ruin their own Ag Businesses, enjoy the ride. Impacting Ag Businesses in other States is another story.
How this passes muster is a mystery to me, but CA got away with having their own set of Vehicle Emissions Laws so that Horse left the Barn decades ago.

“Lipidleggin’” is a science fiction short story by American writer F. Paul Wilson. It was first published in Isaac Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine in 1978.
In a world where the government has outlawed butter and untreated eggs because of their high cholesterol content, Gurney is an antiques dealer in rural New Jersey who discovers farmers who are producing the ‘real stuff’ and starts dealing in them, thus becoming a ‘lipidlegger’.

Lace the bacon with Fentanyl and call it Saint George brand. Sales will go through the roof.

Producers will comply with the CA law or sell their product elsewhere.
And California will continue to have as much bacon as it wants.

But it's so much cleana',
And you don't have to worry about trichina!
And your arteries will be grateful!
You can eat a whole plateful!
So don't be a snake;
Give the piggies a break!

But, Red, dump the swine!
Think about your behind!
You'll feel better when you're trimmer
And your bohunkus is slimmer!
And not only is that so, But you'll no longer be a fatso!
And your wife will be jolly
When you're healthier by golly!

Everyone on FR will disagree with me, but I don’t eat pork. Pigs are as smart as dogs—some say smarter—and I wouldn’t eat my dog either. Chicken and beef are enough meat for me. Pasture raised, so at least they have happy lives. More nutritious and tastier that way too.
