Dr. Who would be the definitive source.

the ice will get warmer

Great science writing there. Ice absorbs heat, but it doesn't change temperature until after it changes phase (to a liquid). Common this is junior high level science!

Well so we understand what decoherence is. After all we have an fraudulently elected president suffering from it.

But all politics aside, what I read from this article is that they’ve discovered a quantum state of matter that doesn’t change every time you look at it. That’s the decoherence problem they’re solving. Which makes a really big difference in quantum computing. If you can achieve a steady, predictable, legible and controllable state of quantum matter then you’ve reached a new level of computational power. I’m not reading that they’ve done this, but this is exactly the kind of ‘small’ natural property that triggers technological leaps. Like the Airfoil and the internal combustion engine.

There’ll be no limit to the ways this will enable the democrats to CHEAT.

I was going to read the article, but it was time consuming.
Besides, we’ve only got 9.73 years left because...Science!

Concepts that include the word, quantum, are generally complicated and counterintuitive.

Any article that claims to violate the law of thermodynamics and conservation of energy in one fell swoop has got to be a record for idiocy.

There is always thermal energy in any crystal not at absolute zero and the arrangements of the lattice are subject to both bonding and thermal forces. If the molecules vibrate they can also begin to synchronize these vibrations following the well understood Kuramota equation. This synchronization can oscillate between modes causing phase effects like those discribed here.

YouTube has many examples of solids and liquids that oscillate chemically to change color and density to create repeating periodic patterns. These waves even travel through the brain.

Extaordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and, so far, I’m not getting very excited.

I like studying science, but the college freshman tone of this article makes it unreadable.

Nature did it first.

In 1946, Issac Asimov wrote “The Endochronic Properties of Resublimated Thiotimoline”. However, the natural variety was prohibitively expensive. This changes with the invention of synthetic Thiotimoline, without which a Moon landing would have been impossible.
