Athletes should be able to profit from name, image and likeness. Good for Mr. Ewers. That said NIL will remove the facade of amateurism college sports. Unfortunately that will increase the competitive gaps beteeen the haves and have nots in college football.

amateur sports sports ended decades ago. Just the olympics alone has turned into a a pro sports arena. It was a amateur movement that got taken over.

You’re exactly right. Before everything “improved,” an eight-grade education was equivalent to what is being taught in high schools today. High school back then was equivalent to what a junior college is today.

What I see happening is that all the big programs will break away and start their own league, and leave the conferences behind, and negotiate their own TV contract.

Nowadays with zoom you can stay at home, cook, work, etc. and still attend college. Why not high school?

"I think Division 1 is more likely to split, formally or informally. The schools that have real amateurs will simply stop scheduling the Power 5’s, and just play each other."
I think there's already a college sports association called the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes). I think these are schools that don't offer athletic scholarships, so all of their athletes are regular students who meet normal admission requirements.
