I've been using Betadine Antiseptic Sore Throat Gargle with 0.5% povidone-iodine the past seven months with good results on sore throats. None of my sore throats has progressed to a cold or bronchitis (which they usually do).

It has a special ingredient. Not all have it. One of the crest ones does.
You would have to look it up. Different studies tell you different things..such as chlorahexadine which i was prescribed from a dentist.
Baby shampoo up the nose will kill it as will.
