Most totalitarian regimes have constitutions that guarantee freedom of speech and the freedom to protest.

Their citizens had to learn that the documents were lying—the hard way.

I guess you will have to touch the hot stove to believe it will burn you...

The documents aren’t the problem. It’s what we have allowed to happen to them, partially at the hands of the legislature, but mostly at the hands of SCOTUS. Its “penumbras” allow it to interpret and enforce its interpretation.

Don’t forget that SCOTUS was responsible for the Dred Scott decision…their politics change,but it’s always politics.
