Kroger and Walmart, two of the nation's biggest retailing chains, are changing their mask policies as the nation contends with less-vaccinated regions getting hit by high infection rates due to the Delta variant.
Kroger is now "strongly" encouraging all individuals, including those who are vaccinated, to wear a mask when in its stores and facilities, the Cincinnati, Ohio-based supermarket operator said Friday, citing updated recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Previously, Kroger had required unvaccinated employees wear masks and requested that unvaccinated shoppers do the same.
"We will continue to abide by all state and local mandates and encourage all Americans to get vaccinated, including our associates," the company said in an emailed statement. Kroger, the nation's largest grocer, operates nearly 2,800 stores in 35 states.
Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart said it will require all its workers — including vaccinated ones — to wear masks in areas with high infection rates of COVID-19. The country's largest retailer also is encouraging its customers to wear masks in stores in areas with high infection rates from the Delta variant of the coronavirus, and will be adding back signs at entrances announcing its latest policies, according to a memo supplied by Walmart that was sent to its employees Friday.
Walmart will also bring back its "health ambassadors" who will be positioned at the entrances and hand out masks to customers.

I still say I admire your spirit.
I get treated the same pretty much whatever I do so I might as well ignore those who lie, sell me out, never deliver on one single thing, or take advantage of my good nature but they always want something from me.
Not quite a wild rebel though:

Sounds important. The "Health Ambassador" at my Walmart was a cashier two days ago. Hope it is a promotion with appropriate raise in salary.
In a rare flash of insight during my teen years, I realized that even if I did change to please all the people who didn’t like me, then they wouldn’t respect me because they would see me as weak.
I still wouldn’t be good enough for them, so why even bother trying? If they didn’t like me the way I was, I was not going to let them control my life and lose sleep over it. I had enough to do without trying to please people who didn’t like me anyways.
I don’t go to Walmart, but aren’t these the little underachievers who delighted in barking commands at unmasked customers trying to enter the stores?
Yep, in my area they either put the geriatric old blue haired ladies or pimply faced minimum wage part timers at the door. Last year I never gave them any argument, had a mask on, got my basket rolled to first aisle and off came the mask.
I am responding to this thread almost 30 days from its original posting, but I went into a Walmart today in NJ, and I was told by the broken English speaking employee at the door that I needed to wear a mask. I smiled and politely declined while pointing to my arm, suggesting that I had received the jab (which I did not). She kept insisting I needed to wear a mask as I walked by her. I continued to shop for the next 15 minutes with no mask and checked out with no issues, but I was definitely the only one in the store without a face diaper.
I went to the walmart corporate website and it indicates that employees must wear face coverings, while customers are "strongly encouraged" to do so. I should print out that page and bring it with me the next time I go.
Yep.
Strongly encourage something that does NOT work.
