One sunny morning this spring, a Chevy Suburban pulled up to a sizable Mediterranean-style house in a gated community on the west side of Fort Worth. Inside the SUV, Ernie Tarut was recalling how the warm welcome he’d received at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, held in Arlington last December, had influenced his decision to move his Old Gringo Boots company from San Diego to Cowtown. “It was a great feeling that all these people were excited to have Old Gringo maybe coming here,” he said. “I was like, ‘Why do I want to stay in California? Here it seems like I’m already home.’”
So, just a few months after the rodeo, real estate agent Jamie Adams brought Tarut and his wife, Josy, to check out this two-story, 5,376-square-feet home listed for sale at $1.7 million. It was the couple’s second visit to the house in the Montserrat development, roughly a twenty-minute drive southwest of downtown Fort Worth. The Taruts both liked it—maybe even more than the ritzy penthouse condominium that they were also considering at the Montgomery Plaza building in the city’s West 7th district.

Think of the maintenance on a 5,300 square foot house. cleaning, heating, air conditioning, and repairs.

Stay away from Texas and Florida. I currently live in Florida and we are being overrun. I had a couple stop by my house last week and ask was it for sale. I was on the front porch enjoying the day and they stopped, backed up and began a conversation.
We did this and now we’re moving out. Wife wanted to leave Colorado and market looked good. Lucked into a place in west Ft Worth for a faction. House in CO hasn’t sold and we hate it here. The people are nice but that’s it. Moving back end of Sept. Most stuff never got unpacked.

More people, more problems. Leftist or not, Texas is being conquered, so is Florida. Just like the rest of the south. People show up to nice states, aka the finish line, that aren’t from there or worked to make that state better, but get the rewards of moving there.
No cowboy wants the penthouse in Montgomery plaza. We have enough bootmakers in Texas. We don’t need Californians here.
The people are nice, but it’s hot, dry and dusty, and there’s nothing to do but sit inside the air conditioning and wait for the few weeks a year that the weather is nice?
