A recent Gallup poll found that the number of Americans identifying as LGBTQ has risen sharply, up from 4.5 percent in 2017 to 5.6 percent in 2021, a 24% increase in just four years. Well, knock me over with a feather boa.
Several lesbian feminists were troubled by the survey results, as the number of Americans identifying as lesbian remained roughly the same, while the number identifying as bisexual or transgender skyrocketed. They believe that many young people who would have identified as lesbian in days of yore are now coming out as nonbinary or transgender. Egad!
The belief is that many masculine lesbians are now "transitioning" to "men," causing the lesbian community as a whole to shrink. Aimee Anderson apparently saw this phenomenon coming and stated so in an article she wrote in 2015, titled "The Death of the Lesbian." Anderson laments the loss of "old-school" lesbian culture and ominously proclaimed, "I care about the extinction of an entire people: lesbians."
First the dinosaurs and now lesbians. Life on Earth is tough.
Katie Herzog joins Anderson in her fond remembrance of the lesbian yesteryear utopia. Herzog penned a piece called "Where Have All the Lesbians Gone?" in which she wrote: "For older lesbian activists, there is something deeply sad about generations of females who don't want to be lesbians or even women." She recalled how an elderly lesbian once said to her that someday in the future, people will be saying: "We heard about these creatures called lesbians," adding, "They'll dig up our bones. But the bones, of course, cannot talk."
But West Virginia University humanities librarian Lynne Stahl disagrees. Stahl, in a piece published in the Washington Post, stated: "As a lesbian researcher of tomboyism trained in queer theory, I find claims like these absurd and frightening."

Don’t get out much eh?
I’ve known a dozen or so lesbians over the years.
Half of them had kids and were in long time, devoted relationships.
One couple lived across the street and used to watch our kids, boys, whom they loved btw and whom the boys loved in return.
Worked for one who was a great boss, we got her a tee for her birthday that read: “It’s a bitch being Butch” (she rode a Harley and wore Doc Martens).
Another one had been one of the first to qualify airborne.
Some were lipstick lesbians, some were ball cap and boots wearers.
Sure, a couple of them were jerks, but so are lots of straight people.
For the sake of FR...there are guilty ones and not guilty ones...any questions?
You only see them in TV ads
“old school lesbians” - that phrase conjured up some mental images. Blech.
It is just a side effect of the government guaranteeing student debt so that universities are isolated from the economic results of what they do.
Wait to you see what students who get "free" college study.
Celebs carried small dogs around, then switch to adopting black kids then turning their boys into girls and girls into boys and supporting the LGBTQ crowd.
I am thinking they could have their lesbian boys carry small dogs around for starters.
So...lesbians are worried there aren’t enough replacements in the pipeline?
Isn’t the lack of something in the pipeline the original problem?
My eyes saw Lesbians, and my brain said Leprechauns.
Yeah, i think that Leprechauns are extinct, because they didn’t make babies either. Like the Shakers, no replacement of population.
I am the same but it would get really awkward if we ever met.
I told work I was bisexual. After all, I’ve been having sex with the same man since I was 14 and found a Hustler magazine in a trash can.
Because it snows and then you fall down and nobody sees you and you get run over by a snowplow and then we all feel sad.
America is officially insane. And we’re building our home on sand. It will not stand for long.
I keep waiting to see this degree pop up and wonder who it will drive crazy,
“Black Lesbian Dance Theory for White Transgendered Men”.
It makes as much sense as any other SJW degree.
