Hugo Millan, a 14-year-old motorbike racer, has died after a crash at the MotorLand Aragon Circuit in Alcaniz, Spain.
The Spaniard was hit by another rider after going down in the middle of the track on the second lap of the European Talent Cup race on Sunday.
Millan was attended to by doctors for several minutes before being taken to the track’s hospital in an ambulance. He was later transported to another hospital in a helicopter but died of his injuries.
“Millan was involved in a multi-rider incident at Turn 5, with the session immediately red flagged,” organisers FIM CEV Repsol said in a statement.
“The Medical Intervention Vehicles arrived at the site immediately and the rider was attended to on track before being transferred to the Medical Centre at the Circuit.
“Despite the best efforts of the circuit medical staff, the Medical Centre has announced that Millan has sadly succumbed to his injuries.”
The organisers added that Millan had been enjoying his best season to date in the European Talent Cup, a series for teenager racers hoping to make it into the professional ranks, claiming several podiums “to demonstrate his consistency as he competed at the front of the class”.
“The FIM, FIM Europe, Dorna and MotorLand Aragón Circuit pass on our deepest condolences to Millán’s family, friends, team and loved ones,” they added.
Six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez was among the top riders who reacted to Millan’s death.
“RIP, HugoMillan,” Marquez said on Twitter. “My most sincere condolences to his family, friends and team.”
MotoGP said: “We are so sorry and saddened about [FIM CEV Repsol] rider Hugo Millán’s passing. We would like to send all our love and support to his family, friends and team.”

Godspeed, kid!
Age 14 -not allowed to have sex, guns, alcohol, drive cars on the street - but they can risk their lives doing this. Unreal!
It’s a dangerous world out there.
He was safer on the track than out riding with his friends.
I started racing dirt bikes at the age of 13. Did not stop till I was 28 years old. Last 3 years were racing super bikes.
It is a family decision. No one else’s.
Horrible video to watch. The kid wiped out at the end of one of the track turns and was getting up off the ground when he was hit by a another motorcycle coming out of the turn.
It’s no different than skiing, mountain biking, flying or any other, actual, sport.
To compete at this level is a tremendous honor. Kid had mad skills. Kid was doing what he loved and should be celebrated for it.
Save your snowflake outrage for baseball of some other stupid child’s game.
Men are men. Sod off
Nice post.
Anything one does can ultimately get one killed, including nothing.
Many worthwhile things carry with them some risk of death in the sixth to eighth magnitude. Unfortunately the world wide media allows this risk to be distorted and let the Karens go mad.
Some days I wish I had died young doing the crazy crap I used to do.
I ruined my body and am now paying for it.
No other regrets though.
We should not allow anyone under the age to 21 to do ANYTHING!
It is far too risky!
Oh please....kids have been racing motocross and karts and whatnot since combustion and wheels
Sad but very rare
Thank u
must be a retailer for bubble wrap.
This is from 35 years ago, but gotta tell it. A story we relished in the pits at Mosport:
Ontario, Canada, True fact: What sport suffers the most fatalities per capita?
FISHING.
Bodies usually found with their fly open.
Might add that skiing in Colorado alone usually accounted for more deaths per annum than road racing did nationally.
Do you mean “dirt bike” as in BMX bike with pedals, self-propelled? Or motorbikes as here engine-propelled?
Four wheels safer than two wheels.
Baseball is risky?
I don’t mind any of those things, but someone lost a son before he was adult. Is that really worth it?
Anyway this is not the kind of thing I am vehemently against, but it is what I might call medium risky.
As for far too risky, and just stupid…”extreme” sports like sky-diving and bungee-jumping, “rock-climbing”, etc. Never even wanted to date anyone into those things. Not willing to learn husband and father died doing something stupid just for fun.
