Disney princesses such as Elsa from Frozen do not damage young girls' self-esteem and 'may be a powerful force for good', according to new research.
US academics studied more than 300 girls and boys and their parents to discover how 'princess culture' affected attitudes over time towards gender stereotypes, body esteem and masculinity.
Previous research had suggested the fictional characters beloved by generations of cinemagoers and TV viewers promoted negative female stereotypes by indoctrinating little girls at a young age...

the problem with Elsa (as I understand it) was NOT that she was a strong female protagonist - but that she shirked responsibility and duty and honor to go be a rebel anti-hero - and many thought that was NOT a good “role model”.

I know of several adults in their late 20s, early 30s who grew up with Disney and numerous visits to Disneyland. They are now trying to collect as much older Disney material as they can before Disney Corp and the woke crowd completely whitewashes (can I say that?!) its history. Movies, books, collectables, you name it. It has come to that.

I never let my kids go to any Disney movie made after about 60’s. Animated or not, the common theme was usually kid characters were disobedient to parents.

When was the last Disney movie that had a human male role model, Aladdin? Where is Disney’s ‘equity policy’ here?

Think you can make an exception for The Little Mermaid at least? Ariel did end up having to suffer some pretty big consequences in that movie (including losing her soul) and REALLY had to clean up her mess from her disobedience of Triton late in the movie by fighting Ursula, so it’s not like the film actually encouraged said behavior (even if she DID end up becoming a human. If anything, I’d consider the original HCA version a textbook example of promoting disobedience to her parents due to her running away, pretty much causing her family to suffer Hell, and then dying and getting a soul in the end despite all the harm she inflicted without even attempting to clean up her mess at all). Maybe also Mulan as her “disobedience” was done to pretty much save her dad from becoming a redshirt.
I definitely won’t recommend Beauty and the Beast, though. Yes, Belle was definitely obedient to her father, but the movie pushed the far-left feminist agenda, which runs the risk of your kids possibly growing up to hate men thanks to Belle, heck, even arguably promoted the idea of outright castrating (metaphorically at least) males to “tame” them, to such an extent that they aren’t even willing to fight back unless the woman that tamed them is nearby.
