I stopped watching wokeball.
They should have just switched mascots from the Beringian with the big nose to Apu and call it good.
A story in the news said that there are statues on a bridge in Cleveland, known as the guardians, and that this name is in honor of those statues. The name has local significance because of those statues, according to that story.
People outside Cleveland may think of Guardians of the Galaxy, or other subjects when hearing the name Cleveland Guardians.
Gee I suspect General Motors will be changing the name of their Cadillac next.
Cadillac was a Great Chief in Michigan. A Native American Hero.
Can’t have any of that now, can we?
“The Cleveland Red Guards” would be more appropriate.
MLB is $blm bakerds. 🐖💩
Of the galaxy?
If we try to cleanse Indian names from all of America, there will be a very long list of name changes needed.
The state of Indiana will have to be renamed. Ditto North and South Dakota, named for the Dakota Indians. Illinois is named for the Illini Indians. Utah is named for the Ute Indians.
I’m sure there are many cities and towns named for Indians or Indian tribes, which will have to be cleansed of their offensive names too. Wasn’t there a Chief Seattle, for whom Seattle is named? The liberals in Seattle will be jolted when learning they are oppressors of tribal people by living in a city with such a name.
Etc. etc.
It’s Starlord!
I think of the sci-fi movie “The Forbin Project”.................One of the two supercomputers was named ‘Guardian’ the other ‘ Colossus’...............
The Cleveland Capitulators.
if we wanted to erase Native Americans from US history, wouldn’t this be a good step to take?
quite a few counties in Texas, as well.
Pretty much all of Oklahoma needs to be renamed.
The Drunken Indians?
Dumb name for a sports teams. Makes me think of Guardians of the Universe.
Would like to know what percentage of Native Americans really object to Indian mascot names.
Gay.
I was hoping for the Spiders, at least that’s a cool name.
Yep, I agree.
I forgot the sarcasm tag in my comment.
I’m reminded just now of Land of Lakes butter removing the Indian and keeping the Land on their package.
How 1880s of them.
