FYI: The UK is also doing the same sort of highway landings.
Ok. You guys all get yourselves all stressed out and worried.
I will go have a nice day.
Here is your highway.

Who’s stressed or worried?
A few tongue and check comments but I’m not worried.
It’s interesting for sure since they’ve never closed down a road and landed like that before.
They don’t want people there watching……LOL good luck with that, if I was closer I’d drift that way.
Have a great. Great weather today. Tomorrow? Maybe not I hear.
They developed design parameters that the freeway had to have so many thousands of feet of straight sections to allow for planes to take off and land.
I designed airports back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Most International airports have runways lengths that approach 10,000 feet.
I worked on the Klamath Falls Airport which had a runway length of 10,140 feet. I watched a Russian made Antonov take off and land there one time. It took almost the whole length of the runway to land and stop that plane. About 2 months later a USAF Galaxy C5-B landed. We were next to the runway working on a project and had to pull the crew back to allow it room to maneuver after landing. As it was coming in we were counting the runway markers. When it blew past the 1,000 then the 2, 3, and 4,000 foot marker me and the Ops manager were thinking oh shit their not gong to make it based upon the landing we watched with the Antonov. The Galaxy touched down at 5,000 and shut it down at 9,000 foot and then taxied to the tarmac.
Maybe not but I bet everyone and their brother will be out on the water in boats, canoes etc
I’m in the Ozarks. Hills and curves. Will need helicopters to land here and it would have to be in a pasture full of cow pies.
LMAO!
How true! Tell people to stay away, nothing to see here and they’ll come!
A very sincere thank you for that LOL moment.
I never saw that hilarious video before. Good thing I’m on FR.
Very cool video.
I noticed they were using a Tail Hook system. That can certainly reduce road need.
