Some people see the data and got the shots immediately. Others saw the data and decided to avoid it at all costs. This bug isn't Ebola which kills everyone but it is more lethal as you get older. The messenger RNA platform may be perfectly fine, or it could do heretofore nasty things after a year or two.
A reasonable person can see all of this, and conclude that public policy should be that of encouragement and fully-informed voluntary consent. I don't see people getting these shots as sheep, and I don't see people not getting the shots as anti-vax conspiracy theorists. It's like eggs and bacon: some think it's good for you while others don't and, frankly, the government has changed its tune over the years. Your mileage may vary.
But regardless of your view, one cannot ignore the political sales push to get shots that makes the rollout of Obamacare look like nothing, and the latest Call of Duty launch to be boring . I don't care if this was the Trump or Bidet Adminiatration...I can't remember the last time the government was this concerned about my acceptance or lack thereof of a product. To conclude that something is off isn't crazy..it's downright American.
Matters are compounded by govt-funded canvassers and maybe 1st Amendment breaches of text-message censorship. And "I'm following the science" has become the modern equivalent of "some of my best friends are ____" Science isn't math, but I do agree in part... this whole affair is political science.
Meanwhile, people on FR - who theoretically have 95% of the same views - can get into long fights about this or that. To me, that's the most telling aspect of this saga. NONE of this seems designed to help, but turn citizen against citizen and get some canvasser killed.
