LA Restaurants Close In Response To Rising Numbers, Breakthrough Cases Of COVID-19

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — A new surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations is again taking a toll on Los Angeles-area restaurants.

Restaurants throughout the region are already struggling to staff up to meet the high demand for dine-in meals, but now they are also being hit disproportionately hard by the rise in new infections, especially among people who are unvaccinated.

This week, both Bottega Louie in West Hollywood and Village Idiot LA in the Melrose area announced temporary closures due to COVID-19 on Instagram.

The Village Idiot said it would close for a few days due after a fully vaccinated staff member tested positive for the virus.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, but unfortunately we’ve had a breakthrough case of Covid-19 with one of our fully vaccinated staff members. We will be closed for the next few days until all of our employees are tested,” the restaurant said in an Instagram post. “Once we feel secure that it’s safe for us to resume serving you our doors will reopen.”

How come there is no mention of the Epsilon Variant? Has anyone read about it mentioned?

Fear porn is highly addictive ... even moreso than the nasty, dirty, vile habit of wearing a mask.

Each new day brings forth a new round of fear porn. I sort of look forward to each new play the Democrat/communist/Left makes. It's a game ... I try to predict what they'll do next, but there are so many ways to stoke fear in irrational, irretrievably ignorant individuals (love the alliteration!) it's difficult to forecast the next fear salvo ... but it's a sure bet there's at least a couple hundred more coming ... but as long as my single malt supply holds out ... (no! I haven't had any (yet) today.)

My Mom was talking to her cousin in Israel..most of those who have either tested positive or are hospitalized have already been vaccinated..so its either the vaccine does NOT work for the delta variant or after a few months the vaccine is pretty much worthless..Ive never heard of anyone needing a booster shot for a vaccination so soon after receiving one. For the flu shot its one per yr if you want it..not 1 every 4 months

CBS is not trustworthy.

Bottega Louie in West Hollywood and Village Idiot LA are not normal, family restaurants.

Family restaurants in Los Angeles are packed with both customers and waiters. For example, the iHOP in Chatsworth, Los Angeles, had seven waiters today.

rise in new infections, especially among people who are unvaccinated.

Among the unvaccinated, how many of them have recovered from the Wuhan flu?

Nobody said the vaccines were going to stop the spread of the virus. They only said they would reduce the risk of severe illness and death. We should all fully expect that the virus will spread among the vaccinated.

You could be right and I think we’ve both speculated on both possibilities. But see my post above. Nobody said the vaccines would prevent infection. They just reduce risk of severity of illness. That’s all they ever promised. A rise in infections should be expected among the vaccinated. Seems to me they are using this phenomenon at least in part to scaremonger unvaccinated into getting the jab.

Though if you were a restaurant owner and knew your staff was infected, I suppose the right thing to do would be to close, quarantine and sanitize if only just to CYA.

Testing positive and being hospitalized are two different things. If I knew I would only get a runny nose if I got infected that’s no big deal..the worry is those who are hospitalized, no reason to go to the hospital unless you are really sick, cant breathe, etc..if you are fully vaccinated and need to go to the hospital that isnt good

I guess the communists in Kalifornistan thought there were still too many small businesses there yet.

“Especially amongst people who are unvaccinated” in one sentence then “after a FULLY VACCINATED staff member tested positive”.
Anyone see a problem???”

Yeah, we have no statistics showing how common breakthrough infections are compared to new ones. We have no statistics on how often breakthrough infections mean hospitalizations and/or death. We have no stats on what percentage of breakthrough infections are asymptomatic.

But worse than all that, we have no statistics about whether the “variant” is less, more or the same as the original in terms of danger.

It’s not their intention to report “cases”. They have muddied the language, once again, meaning “cases=death”. Leftie Fear porn at its finest!

Sure but that’s not exactly my point. There are possible problems which they are calling “vaccine breakthrough cases” which may be attributed to various possibilities - the vaccines reduction in risk is not 100%, ADE related issues there are more I’m sure.

My bottom line point was that just because people are vaccinated doesn’t mean they won’t catch and spread the virus. Just look at those Texas democrats now infecting the White House and Capitol staffers. Ideally the vast majority of vaxxed won’t get symptoms or have minimal symptoms but I’d guess to be a responsible citizen just getting a positive test one should go into quarantine, and contact tracing to see where you got it and to whom you may have spread it. Obviously no need for a hospital for a runny nose but if it gets worse, other intervention may be required.

Still don’t know why, vaxxed or not, if you test positive you shouldn’t at least try something like zinc, C and D3 and maybe with a doctor’s scrip the appropriate antibiotic depending on other medical conditions and ivermectin.

That’s another question I have about this vaccine that we cant get a straight answer about..if you are fully vaccinated, can you carry the virus, have no symptoms, and give it to lets say, a baby..I know recently my 10 month old nephew came for a visit, my brother(Who has been vaccinated) made a surprise visit, have barely seem him in 16 months..he wanted to see the baby but my Mom would not let him since he goes around to different stores, etc she didnt want to risk it so she told him that he could be a carrier not know it and give it to the baby..is that true..can that happen?
