Always glad to see you, sodpoodle.
Glad you got hooked back up but cancel the cable TV already! You will find you don't really need it.
Same with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. All those accounts got cancelled over the past year. All I need is the Internet, some good books to read, some good music and I'm all set.
You don’t have a Cell Phone with Data?
Just askin’...
This is hugh. Glad you were able to finally log in.
Most cell phones now can be used as an internet access point. That’s how I connect my iPad to the net when I’m somewhere with no wi-fi
Two days wasn’t enough to get past the withdrawal period.
You almost made it.
No problem FRiend. Rant away!
Last fall due to high winds, the power company shut off electricity to the entire neighborhood for 3 days. Total darkness. This is because our crap state managers and city/county don’t bother to do what Trump said - clear out the dead brush! They also got sued into oblivion 2 years ago due to the deaths and destruction of fires allegedly caused by downed electric lines. So their solution is to just cut the power when the winds get high.
I admit, other than going to work, when I got home only two things we could do. Drink or spend more time with the wife. Or both. She doesn’t drink so...
Well I could surf the internet on my cell phone but it was an old phone and had to spend time in the car just to charge it.
The digital age has brought some great things and it’s easy to see how fragile they can be and how fast they can be taken away. It seems that without the internet we now have virtually no means of getting useful information which in some case can be very dangerous.
Or have you been playing around like these guys:
Glad your back up and at em
Happens every time we have a hurricane..........
How DID we survive, even exist before the Internet?
Before GPS map app’s?
Before cell phones?
Before email?
Before home computers?
Before music CDs?
Before electronic calculators?
Before answering machines?
Before FM stereo?
Before TV?
Send in an extra $10 to the FReepathon?
I have not experienced that type of outage, but I know I get a little crazy if I can’t get on FR for a day or two, for whatever reason. There is something very validating about knowing others agree with you (and we are not all just insurrectionist deplorable racist White supremacists).
I think about going away somewhere that I intentionally have no access.
Not sure how a regional outage required something at your physical location to be fixed. Usually it's the cable returns, you reboot the cable modem, and then you reboot your PC(s). Sometimes, not even the last two are needed.
When my cable Internet goes out, I set my iPhone up as a “hotspot.” I can access the internet through T-Mobile cellular. It’s very handy for those outages when you must get on FR.
Years ago, some of my family met up in San Antonio. We were sitting at an outside table, my son was was reading a weather report from his phone. After he read it, I looked at the sky and said, “I could have told you that”.
Dang!
You missed Xiden being carried out of the WH in a straight jacket...
