Hannity got ridiculously wealthy by knowing exactly what red meat to throw out there.

His style is simplistic because he is playing to the lowest common denominator.

He uses repetitious phrases, and illiteration: “media mob,” “cornhusker kickback,” and some key red meat words: “radical agenda”, “socialism” - phrases that the GOPe also interject into their statements to appease the crowd. (When these GOPe guys give statements, it sounds like word salad using certain words, but they carefully avoid any specific promise of action, and never back them up.)

This is more about appealling to and PLACATING conservatives, rather than inspiring and motivating them. Linseed Grahamcracker is an example of this tactic brought to an extreme.

Excellent analysis. I started watching Hannity and Colmes back during the Clinton Impeachment. Fox News was a novelty at the time, but it quickly became obvious Hannity was neither an agile debater, nor an incisive interviewer.

Many years ago (early 2000s) I remember listening to his show when callers would try to raise the issue of the mere existence of a deep state/shadow government and Hannity would simply have his producer cue up the Twilight Zone theme and ridicule them, completely failing to address or engage the issues the caller was raising. Then years later, during the Trump 2016 campaign, Hannity started posing like he was on the bold cutting edge of uncovering the deep state.
