A single father recently diagnosed with potentially fatal cancer is auctioning off a signed Tom Brady rookie card to provide for his daughters.

Scott Weaver’s autographed 2000 Playoff Contenders Rookie Ticket was consigned to Heartland Sports Cards and Memorabilia where it will be auctioned off. The card is numbered 40/100. The bid has already gone over $116,000 as of Tuesday. The bidding ends on July 25 at 10:00 p.m. EST.

Weaver told Sports Collectors Daily that the card became in his possession in late 2003 or early 2004 when “he purchased a “surprise box” of football cards on eBay for $100 that was guaranteed to have at least one 2000 Playoff Contenders Autographed Rookie Card inside.”

Weaver told the outlet that back then he “was a die-hard Rams fan” and he was hoping to get Marc Bulger’s signed rookie card instead.

“I was actually disappointed at the time,” Weaver said.

When Brady started to become a household name, Weaver got the card professionally graded. Beckett Grading gave it a 7.5 (NM+) with a 9 autograph grade.

The card was once stolen from Weaver and ended up in a St. Louis area hobby shop. The Sports Collectors Daily said, “Thanks to a tip, it was confiscated and returned to Weaver.”

Weaver’s daughters are 10 and 18, and this sale could really change their lives.

He has Multiple Myeloma. It’s treatable and most patients can live with it for many years. Tom Brokaw has had it for years. Plus there are new treatments out that will push life expectancy up even further.

His best option would be to go to MD Anderson. They have the best treatment options and clinical trials.

And with all the new science they cannot successfully treat peripheral neuropathy as proven by the many snakeoil sales faculities that claim to have the answer, but none do.

My mother, God rest her soul, went there.

There wasn’t much they could do for her cancer but they tried.

Thank you for your condolences

It was cancer in her bowel area. I’m keeping it kinda vague on purpose.

Lord knows I miss my parents dearly. Dad was a veteran. They were both believers so I’ll see them again.

✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️

God bless.

Understood. Your dad and mom are together and some day you will all be together again. I remember Rush saying something to that effect about himself.

That is where my best buddy went for surgery and consultation for mesothelioma. It had spread beyond his lung that they removed. They pretty much sent him home to die which he did.

Well I hope that he doesn’t go to Siteman for treatment.

They told my dad he needed more than medicare to pay for treatment and told him to come back when he was in remission. A so called cancer treatment center refused to treat a rare cancer like Multiple Myeloma so he was stuck with a doctor that was an idiot and kept changing the treatments. The cancer didn’t kill him but it was the treatments and the side effects the doctor ignored that was later found to be from internal bleeding.

Was told he might have 2-3 years. Turned out not even 3 months after the first chemo dose.

There is more to the story but don’t want to post too many details.

Not everyone who goes to MD Anderson is going to be cured, but your chances there are better than pretty much anywhere else.

I am getting great care for my metastatic prostate cancer at MD Anderson. The average 5-survival rate is about 55%. I was diagnosed almost seven years ago and there is no reason to think I won’t be around for another seven years, or more.
