The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

I finally got the right vowel for the two-letter words, and then finding the right first letter and the common letter got me the sixth and ninth words. The rest opened up after that.
