“Football” is pandering. Football is pathetic. Football will say or do anything to chase down the very last potential viewer/customer.
The National Football League (NFL) recently joined virtually every other American institution in lauding -- and marketing to — the LGBTQ Community during Pride Month in June. It did so by releasing a new 30-second commercial proudly proclaiming that “football is gay, lesbian, queer, transgender, bisexual and exciting.”
The ad begins by stating “football is gay” to the sound of drums rolling and people cheering. (I’m not sure what Dick Butkus would have to say about this advertisement, but I digress.)

The ad is in part a direct response to Las Vegas Raiders’ defensive end Carl Nassib’s recent announcement that he was gay, a league spokesperson said. It is titled, “Football is for everyone,” and is intended to “send a strong message of acceptance from the league to fans and players,” reports Outsports. What will the league look like a few years from now?

That statement encompasses the left’s primary goal and it’s MO to reach that goal.
I have lived long enough to have had many acquaintances, coworkers and clients who are gay. I’m not sure I have ever known even one, male or female, who cared about the NFL. Baseball, soccer, hockey, hell even NASCAR...but not professional football.
I don’t understand this marketing campaign at all. Seems the league is bent on suicide.

The odd thing is, as previous posters pointed out, the stats say that gays are not a big audience. If they’re not trying to increase their audience...what are they trying to do? The view from here is that the people who placed the ad are trying to destroy their business.

Extortion is what it is. The league and the owners enjoy lots of tax benefits and legal exemptions which are subject to modification and/or elimination unless they comply with deep state commands. It’s the same with all these “woke” corporations. The tax code is complicated for a reason: exemptions and special deductions are/were sold for campaign cash and “special” business opportunities for “special” individuals in and around DC.
Corruption follows money, and the largest pile of money (direct and indirect) on the planet is controlled by Washington.

It’s just marketing. The demographics for some pro sports show that the fan base, straight white men mostly, is aging out, dying off and the folks who run the sport have a responsibility to try to keep the ad revenue dollars flowing so they looked and found a potential target audience and it seems a percentage of that audience is either gay or ok with gays and gay culture. As a capitalist I really can’t see the problem with ownership looking for new revenue streams, it’s just marketing baby.
The tax benefits aren’t covering it, or Amazon wouldn’t be funneling money to the NFL.
That can’t continue for long in the face of spiraling costs and losses.
Unless Deep State nationalizes the NFL..

“FOOTBALL IS GAY” is an ad campaign by the American Soccer League designed to get us to watch their really gay sport.
“Will the next ad proudly describe the sex acts that NFL football engages in?” No that will never happen, and the TV commercials that are starting to feature gayness won’t, and the sitcoms and Netflix movies that already show gay couples don’t touch the sex act subject.
They want the protection of civil rights and diversity which are the current cultural philosophies. “You have to accept me as I am” and what I am is normal.
The already started next step is to preach acceptance to the young. They want more members.
The NFL lives by what the media defines as good in our culture, and it lives and breathes from the network TV presentations. Whatever those media people say is what the NFL will preach.

Professional sports have outlived their usefulness. They were nothing but entertainment to begin with and now that that’s gone, they have no point.
I’m certainly not interested in watching them to be woke virtue signaled at.
