Ho Chi Minh City continued to report the highest number of new infections in the country. On Thursday, the city also recorded 2,691 new patients, the majority of which are individuals who came into contact with confirmed Covid-19 patients or who were detected in either isolation and locked down areas. The city has imposed social distancing measures in 15 days starting from July 9 in an effort to prevent the virus spread.

Another checked box for situations where there appears to be a hidden vector (or more conspiratorially sounding, a hidden cause for positive cases besides actual covid19 infection)

For months we read Vietnam was basically Covid free.

I guess not anymore.

So by “patients,” are they referring to ppl who are actually hospitalized or just ppl who are being treated by healthcare professionals in an outpatient setting? It’s an important distinction, especially since recent stories use that term more frequently and it may not mean what we think it means.

VietNam has had more than a year to build healthcare facilities and train caregivers to deal with any “surge” of the China Virus.

If there is any nation which has not, it can only be concluded that the government there wants these lockdowns to continue for its own (most likely nefarious) purposes.

I have to say the doctors here have done astoundingly well, and every single one of them are true heros, just as are medical staff around the whole world.

Give them more immunizations.

That is all they need.

1. It used to be a good thing for EVERYONE to have been exposed to a virus for ‘herd’ immunity.

2. It does not appear like there are MASS deaths, so what gives?

3. Vaccinated? Or unvaccinated? If vaccinated, wouldn’t this be a sign of ADE? …what all the previous Coronavirus Vaccines Studies Warned about?!

This breakout just happened, for a year there has been remarkable success at keeping everyone here safe, the most recent breakout just started around two months ago.

Obesity...the lack thereof. Asian countries are notoriously some of the least obese countries on the planet. It shouldn't be surprising that their death rate relative to infection rate is lower than it has generally been in the west, which is home to some of the fattest people on earth.

Vietnam's obesity rate is 21.5%. The obesity rate in the US is 28.5. We rank 176th out of 196 countries, which is to say we're the 20th fattest country whereas Vietnam is 179th (ish) fattest country.

Africa is also generally a very 'thin' continent. But, there is one country that did see a larger death rate than its neighbors: South Africa. South Africa also happens to be one of the fattest countries in Africa. I think the fattest.

There does definitely seem to be something much more ... virulant? ... about it now.

I am glad we have now identified how to protect people from it, but PLEASE we need more vaccinations.

Vietnam has I believe the single lowest vaccination percentage in southeast Asia. Only about 5% so far, so there are a LOT of vulnerable people here at the moment.

Send more vaccines please!!

Thanks

The more they lockdown, the more COVID spreads.

It’s almost like when they want cases tospike to maintain control, they just lock down and it happens.

I don’t suspect the medicine, I think they are doing wonderful things.

(Same as everywhere)

I think it is a tougher bug now.
