The problem with the Italian football team is that there’s just too many Italians on it, The Economist argued in a bizarre article linking Italy’s Euro 2020 victory to fascism, racism, and the defeat of multiculturalism.
Italy beat England 3-2 in a nail-biting penalty shootout on Sunday night, winning the UEFA European Championships for the first time since 1968. However, while Italians erupted in celebration, some dismayed England fans turned their anger on their team’s three black players who missed their penalty kicks.
Much has been written about the shameful racist abuse hurled at these players, but the day after the final, even as Italians were being physically attacked on British streets, The Economist managed to find a more obscure source of racism: the Italian team itself

In the 1980's the Economist was a great magazine/newspaper, now its not worth the paper its printed on.
Yes, the outrage is all manufactured.
Putting a 19yr old in for the final kick was absurd. The coach has a ‘woke’ streak, he thinks Brexit had ‘racial undertones’.
They lost because they sat on a goal for 90 minutes and let Italy just come at them.
I also notice how nobody would ever say such a thing about a Asian or African team. All the multicultural demands are only applied to mostly white countries.
Me too. It was once a good publication, but that was long ago.
Great article. Exemplifies the insanity on the left.
” Much like in the United States, “person of colour” is understood as a stand-in term for “black,” with other races and colors added to or excluded from this category depending on the political point that needs to be made. Asian-Americans in particular are the subject of this racial switcheroo: they’re people of color when they’re being attacked in the street (not by whites, mind), and they’ve “internalized whiteness” when they succeed in work and education.”
It seems as if someone is still triggered by losing the EURO final.
How dare Italy include Italians on their squad!
The dipwads at “The Economist”are steamed because the “diverse” team lost. There goes the “Diversity is our strength” narrative.
Originally, I was pulling for a Slavic nation to win. In the final, I was cheering hard for Italy.
I believe Southgate was pressured from the FA to put in those players at the end of the game.
Of course Southgate won’t admit it, since he still wants to coach England. But there’s no other explanation for it.
Yup.
Pretty much. The Economist, which is a British publication, is swallowing their own vomit because the much better Italian team clobbered them good.
Chuckle.

Correct on all points.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he was pressured.
He was either pressured or extremely stupid.
If you are truly woke you are supposed to say BIPOC in certain situations. Regarding your post, if an Asian is attacked he/she is a POC but you use BIPOC to demonstrate blacks have special victim status. At least thats what one of my LibTard neighbors told me.
The combined populations of Sardinia and Sicily is 6,600,000. You must have spent a fortune giving everyone on those islands a DNA test to determine that they ALL have mixed blood or Arab genes. LOL!!
They were dreaming of that moment when a black player won it for England.
Or if they lost, they could attack the racists, either way they got their narrative.
I agree, it was a great magazine before MORONS got to it. Now it should be called ‘The Economist for Wokeorons
‘
Saca is world class player. He scored five Premier League goals for Arsenel this past season and was named the club's Player of the Year. The stupid thing was not putting him into the game earlier.
ML/NJ
So BIPOC means your an extra-special POC?
“They were dreaming of that moment when a black player won it for England.

” Exactly what I was thinking.
My team! My adopted home country! Si` e` vero! We won world championship soccer in 2006 when we were there. SO EXCITING!
I pointed out that Pele scored a goal in the World Cup Final at the age of 17.
