Pittsburgh Steelers' Dwayne Haskins injured by wife, who faces a domestic violence charge, reports say

The wife of Dwayne Haskins faces a domestic violence charge stemming from an alleged assault involving the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback that occurred in a Las Vegas hotel room earlier this month, according to multiple reports.

Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins faces a felony charge of battery and domestic violence resulting in bodily harm stemming from the alleged altercation on July 3 at The Cosmopolitan.

According to reports, Gondrezick-Haskins is accused of punching Haskins in the mouth, and other injuries Haskins reportedly suffered were "substantial in nature."

Haskins, 24, had a split upper lip and a missing tooth, and he suffered other injuries to his mouth that would require dental work to repair his teeth, according to reports.

Police were called to the hotel around 2:30 a.m. PT, according to reports, and Haskins was taken to the hospital for the facial injury.

Gondrezick-Haskins told police, according to reports, that the pair married in March and were in Las Vegas to celebrate with friends and renew their vows. At some point in the evening, there was an argument that escalated when she allegedly hit Haskins in the mouth.

Haskins, according to reports, said he remembered getting into a fight with his wife but didn't remember getting punched in the mouth. In searching the room, officers found a piece of tooth and blood, per reports.

Haskins, a former first-round pick by the Washington Football Team in 2019, signed a one-year deal with the Steelers in January in hopes of reviving his NFL career.

I still think they’d have been better off keeping Cousins.

True. But the Redskins wouldn't had gotten the draft picks low enough to get the defensive players they have on the team now. Cousins is a very good QB but he's not elite so he won't be able to win the SB unless his team had a dominant D like the Ravens or Seahawks did recently.

Sorry, no. I watched him. The years he was allegedly a "passable," it was because the Offensive Coordinators had to carve out a Significant portion of their playbook, just to make it possible for him to play.

Andy Reid made a horrible decision signing Smith. He's a genius, so he was able to duct tape an offense together that worked using Smith, but it only goes so far.

As soon as he got rid of Smith, he went to back to back Super Bowls.

He would have been to another Super Bowl or two if he could have found a real quarterback, instead of Smith.

Is that really the criterion for being an NFL caliber QB, the ability to get to the Super Bowl two years in a row? Alex Smith was no Pat Mahomes. He wasn't even Colin Kaepernick. He wasn't capable of leading his teams to the Super Bowl - watching him fail to deliver in the 2011 NFC Championship Game made me want to kick my TV in. But he led the 49ers and Chiefs to multiple postseason runs and was a solid NFL starter. To say he's not NFL caliber is silly.

Agreed. If its takes superbowls to make one an NFL caliber QB...then I guess guys like Marino and Tarkington (among so many others) are not good enough to play in the league (i.e. not NFL caliber).

But he led the 49ers ... to multiple postseason runs and was a solid NFL starter.

He lead the 49ers to exactly one (1) playoff. The only other playoff they made while he was on the 49ers, he was benched during the season. With prejudice.

So, for six seasons he was an anchor around the neck of the organization. And for one season, the 49ers were so good on defense, special teams, and the rest of the offense, that it would overcome his shaky QB play and compulsive need to throw interceptions in the 4th quarter.

If you wanted to sit down and go watch every game of that season, I could point out ow amazing the other 49ers were that season, and how much they made up for Smith.

Smith was so bad, even brilliant offensive coordinators would get fired.

Read what I said. I did not say that. I said the Chiefs were so good that when they didn't have that anchor (Smith) weighing them down.

By the way, Marino was in one Super Bowl and Tarkenton was in three)

Eli Manning won two Super Bowls and he was mediocre at best. But he had good games when it counted.

Huh? Is renewing the vows a few months after the marriage actually a thing?

Could be a matter of scaling. If you expect the marriage to last for many decades, you might renew your vows every twenty years or so. If you expect it to last a year or two...

Now he has a way out of the marriage. Dump that B.

Agree. He would have been branded a wife beating abuser if he defended himself.

Read what I said. I did not say that.

What you said was that Alex Smith wasn't an NFL caliber QB. I never thought I'd defend Alex Smith as a QB, but of course he was an NFL caliber QB. Jim Harbaugh, Andy Reid and Ron Rivera all thought so, and that's why he was an NFL QB - a starter - for so many years.
