The Navy’s surface warfare community is weighed with a culture that values administrative chores over training to fight, ship commanders that are micromanaged and an aversion to risk, according to a new survey overseen by a retired Navy admiral and Marine general at the behest of a group of Republican lawmakers. That culture was at least partially responsible for a string “of high-profile and damaging operational failures in the Navy’s Surface Warfare community,” the report found.
The study, titled “A Report on the Fighting Culture of the United States Navy Surface Fleet,” surveyed 77 current and recently retired surface sailors “about their insights into the culture of the United States” and how it related to incidents that included the 2017 fatal collisions in the Western Pacific that killed 17 sailors, the 2016 incident in which the crews of two Navy patrol boats were captured by Iranian forces in the Persian Gulf and the pier-side fire that resulted in the total loss of the former amphibious warship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6).

When the high command has “Peter Principled” out, two promotions earlier, they are incapable of instilling proper training or actual command of a ship or group.

There are forces wishing to damage the entire country. Few people have the courage to do anything about it.
Next time I see a sailor I am going to ask him to give me a week’s worth of his routine on ship....assuming he is a fleet sailor and not shoreline.
The routine for a week should include at least 2 duty days when in port and a week at sea should include several general quarters training exercises.
This would be a great sample of how the Navy has and has not changed since I got out in 92.

It is nearly incomprehensible, unless one looks at the people driving the changes. And everyone seems powerless to stop them.
And all the rest of the now dumbed down, can walk instead of running, spend their days trannyitioning and god knows what else used to be Great US Military Services.
Some wanted this to happen, collectively we all let it happen.
How many times have we seen something and not said anything?
How many people did not vote because the candidate "Didn't meet their standards of purity"?
How many times did we take the easy road just to get along with no hassles"?
We are now realizing how easy enough it was to let our country slip into communism and just how difficult it will be to get it back.
I think those things are all true, but a more fundamental problem is that we expected our elected officials to represent our interests, and that seems to be the last thing they have in mind.
There are many of us (including me) who have come to the conclusion that there is a real entity called “The Deep State” and up until the last few years, did not realize just how deep the rot went, and that they do not have the best (or any) interests of the country or its citizens in mind.
I hope it is not too late.
Its because of the “lets promote the unqualified females” and make the navy gynocentric, initiatives.
Yet they get re-elected over and over. Term limits kill career politicians.
I have a grandson going into the Marines later this fall and I am beginning to feel very uneasy. If this is an issue in the Navy, it can’t be much different in the other services.
Unfortunately, all of them are going woke, most of the leadership are morphing into communist/Borg, they do not need commissars as they are most of the way there.
And everyone seems powerless to stop them.
