Keith Olbermann: ‘Holy’ Second Amendment ‘does NOT’ authorize gun ownership

Keith Olbermann owned himself on Twitter.

The left-wing former ESPN and MSNBC commentator unveiled a novel argument for the constitutionality of gun control — that the Second Amendment doesn’t use the word “own.”

~~SNIP~~

“Consider again the holy Second Amendment to the Constitution and ask yourself this question. Why doesn’t the 2nd Amendment have the word ‘own’ in it? Why does it not say the right to own guns or a synonym for own?” he asked sarcastically before reciting the existing amendment.

It says “‘keep and bear’ … not ‘own.’ ‘Keep’ doesn’t mean ‘own’; ‘bear’ doesn’t mean ‘own,’” he said to his close-up camera.

In his tweet promoting the video he declared that “the 2nd Amendment does NOT authorize gun OWNERSHIP!”

And down is up and hot is cold etc. these people live in a complete alternative universe in their heads. Which is bad enough, but then they want to use the power of government to force their delusion on all of us.

Nothing like Keith Olbermann publicly stating that he’s not smarter than a fifth grader.

That’s strange. It did for over 200 years.

You would think someone who makes their living with language would be more cognizant of how language evolves over time. Words and phrases that are idiomatic now were not necessarily common 200+ years ago, and vice versa. I would say that firearm ownership is exactly what the 2nd Ammendment is referring to.

I don’t think there is anyone on the face of the planet that takes himself more seriously than Olbermann does.

He is right, it restricts the government from restricting it

Keith Olbermann: Professor of Constitutional law like Barry Soetoro.

We should try this. Why go to college? You can just designate yourself an expert in any field. Like Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. She went straight from being a bartender to being an expert in atmospheric physics and policing in the span of only 3 months.

he probably thinks people can only bear arms by appointment at a range, and using guns owned by the state, and only for use at shooting ranges-

Recently shot the family heirloom 1873 45-70 trapdoor that was given to my brother 50 years

I used to shoot ground hogs with it

I forgot how much that steel butt plate hurt!

I don’t have as much natural padding as I used to

Consider “Keeping” cattle.

Raising, breeding, multiplying, buying and selling, maybe even branding to denote ownership.

Bit heavy for a ground hog.

Mine has a barrel that is just short of 33”, and with the bayonet fixed it really looks long. They were surprisingly accurate but the heavy bullet dropped fast after 200 yards.

This one was made in 1882, my father’s grandfather fought in the Spanish American War. My father was 3 years old when he gave him the gun. So dad had it 92 years. Pretty amazing.

I have one of the 500 grain black powder bullets with the $ stamp on the primer.

Also have a 405grain bullet mold to cast flat nose round point bullets for it.

I bought a new rifle tonight and cannot wait to pick it up tomorrow.

The provenance on my brother’s gun is incomplete

My uncle bought it for $5 back in the ‘40s from a neighbor

No bayonet though

Hey fool.   Our government does not have the authority to authorize an inalienable right.
