Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot says she welcomes federal help in addressing gun violence in the city, but she pushed back Monday against the idea of having the National Guard come into the picture in a law enforcement capacity.
Lightfoot, speaking at a press availability, says that she supports a variety of federal responses to the problem of gun violence, including additional “strike force” teams offered by President Joe Biden, along with resources from the FBI and other agencies.
“We’ve been in conversation with them about our sense of urgency around getting these resources up and activated,” she said. “I think the primary thing they’re going to do is really build upon the work that’s already being done in conjunction with our federal partners and CPD.”
Lightfoot says her focus is largely on stopping gun trafficking, which she blames for bringing illegal weapons into the city.

What if these victims of systemic racism are ready to fight to end all the racist oppression in Chicago? What then, race war in the streets?

Shut up Lori, you are in waaayyy over your head. Every time she opens her mouth it further proves the fact she was an affirmative action hire by the US Attorneys Office. They are pretty darn smart people, she is not.
First off, the FBI is not trained to and do not specialize in street level violent crime. Pray tell, where did they get this training or experience to patrol in big city ghettos? What about working in the Projects?
Second, and this really makes me chuckle, the CPD had a citywide unit that was tasked with combatting violent/gang crime. Do you know what it was called?

You cant make this stuff up. They were disbanded a few years back because they were arresting too many black and brown people. Even better, this unit was created by a former FBI boss Jody Weiss.
Obviously the FBI doesn’t have better crime fighting capabilities or know how, if the city soundly rejected their strategy less than 10yrs ago.

This has to stop. U.S. taxpayers cannot be on the hook to pay for crimes that the city government officials in Chicago promoted. Let Chicago and Chicago alone pay for the task force to fix the problems Mayor Lori Lightfoot and her racist friends caused.
A big media stunt nothing. You think the NG is going to be allowed to do anything? They won’t have any ammo, they will march around drawing pay, etc. and go home in a couple of weeks.
The violence is not about guns. It is about drugs, drug gangs, drug turf, people who rob drug dealers, and revenge. For some reason I am not quite sure why given the geography, Chicago is a major hub for drug distribution throughout the midwest.
If you listen carefully to Harris/Biden’s presser today, he said he would “stop the trafficking of LEGAL” firearms !
