I am such a “at least one cup a day” coffee drinker, and did not get hit with the Covid-bug, though being in the L.A. and then NYC areas when it started, and traveling multiple times coast to coast between Dec 2019 and early 2021.
But I suspect there is some other variable that regular coffee drinkers frequently (not always) have in common, and that variable was not considered in the study. I think they found a correlation but not sure they found a cause.
I smoke cigarettes with my coffee. That might be it.

Maybe my longs have “residual protection” from smoking for many years though I also quit about 40 years ago. LOL
