How the hell do you think Long was going to be able to implement his “Share The Wealth” program? You think people were just going to willingly give up their wealth?
In context, Long was referring to the corporations, such as oil companies, that were fleecing the people of Louisiana. So, he implemented taxing protocols that are used nationwide now.
The people of Louisiana at that time did not have wealth to share.
When Long became governor, the politicians of Louisiana were mostly corrupt at the taxpayer’s expense. He turned the table on them. It cost him his life.
