While the increasing number of restrictive rules has, indeed, reduced the MMA to a sport, most of these guys are still trained martial artists before they even get to MMA, and they do their training before and after at full contact. Unless your guys were also training full contact, it is a bit of a fantasy to think your guys would take these guys down so easy. You shouldn't confuse what the MMA guys are allowed to do with what they know how to do.
