Maybe it is me, I got in enough fights when I was a kid, way too many, broken bones, blackeyes, watching people going to hospitals, and pain, win some lose some.
I really have never understood paying to watch people beat the heck out of each other.
Like when you square off against the class bully and the whole school gathers around to see the action.

Love President Trump but, I can’t watch MMA. I gave it a shot years ago. The vast majority are chumps that wouldn’t last 3 rounds with any elite boxer in any weight class. It comes across to me like the WWE without the choreography.

I would love to see an elite boxer step into the octagon to prove your theory. I suspect they would get destroyed.

Trump is in attendance tonight at an MMA event. The main event is a Connor McGregor fight. McGregor is a YUUGE supporter of President Trump. President Trump is in attendance because he is loyal to those who are loyal to him. It is a hallmark of Donald Trump’s professional life.
You would be wrong. Several years ago an MMA fighter of some repute named Georges ST. Pierre stated unequivocally that after witnessing the training regimen of elite boxers he was in complete awe. He stated that nothing like that exists in MMA.
He attended training camp with Manny Pacquiao and afterwards stated that Pacquiao with a little awareness training regarding le attacks and the holds permitted in MMA would be as successful a champion in MMA as he is in boxing. He further stated that most MMA fighters would be knocked out by Pacquiao in the 1st or 2nd rounds. Why? Because the striking abilities of elite boxers do not exist in MMA. Nor does the art of eluding strikes and counter punching exist at the level of boxing.
St. Pierre actually tried to recruit Pacquiao into the MMA in order to lend more prestige to the sport. Manny thanked him for the offer and politely declined to say there’s no money in your sport.

You mean Wild Card Gym? 5 minutes away from our studio. Saw him train there for his epic fights from De La Hoya to Marquez etc. I’ve HEARD Pacman hit the bag at 20 feet and everyone in that area can FEEL the vibration. It was just nuts.

Simply put, an elite boxer will toy with an elite MMA fighter in a boxing match. Elite boxers are simply at another level when it comes to punching. A totally different level.
Note though that I said ‘in a boxing match.’
If the same two fighters are allowed to compete using MMA rules - meaning that punching is allowed, but so are elbows, knees, kicks, takedowns and grappling - the elite MMA fighter would destroy the elite boxer very quickly.
Why?
Because the boxer wouldn’t know what to do in, say, a grappling situation. This is something that was proved over and over again in the first MMA fights when you’d have a striker/boxer/puncher-only type of fighter meet a fighter that knew grappling. The fight would quickly go to the ground and it was over.
So, in a boxing match the elite boxer will devastate the elite MMA since all the boxer has been doing their whole life is punching and they are great at it.
In an ‘anything goes’ match the elite MMA fighter will make the elite boxer look like a child by taking the fight to an area the boxer knows nothing about.

Not going to argue with you. I will simply defer to the opinion of Goerges St. Pierre who disagrees with your assessment. You can argue with him. He stated with awareness training of the leg strikes and holding / grappling allowed in the MMA that Elite Boxers would destroy the top MMA fighters.
I will add, that the elusive leg work elite boxers possess actually getting them in a vulnerable position for leg attacks would not be an easy task.
The grappling is a totally different issue. This is something boxers never have to contend with. That said, opening yourself up in an attempt to grab an elite boxer is a dangerous tactic. If you go high your open to a knockout blow. If you go low their elusiveness is likely to result in dead air.
And, then there is the extreme difference in STAMINA. This is an aspect of elite boxers that blew St. Pierre away. It was this aspect of their training regimen that has him in awe.
