The director of Basic Instinct is speaking out after Sharon Stone, who played Catherine Tramell in the 1992 thriller, said she was tricked into taking her underwear off for the infamous crossed-legs scene.
In her recently published memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, Stone, 63, alleged that a member of the movie's production told her to take her underwear off during the scene under the pretense that her private area wouldn't be visible on film.
Speaking with Variety in an interview published Wednesday, director Paul Verhoeven said his "memory is radically different" from that of the actress.
"That does not stand in the way and has nothing to do with the wonderful way that she portrayed Catherine Tramell. She is absolutely phenomenal," he added. "We still have a pleasant relationship and exchange text messages."
Said Verhoeven, 82, "But her version is impossible. She knew exactly what we were doing."

I know that Joe Pesci is a funny guy...I saw him in LETHAL WEAPON films...But, I am not sure if anyone wants to see him in a bed scene...

all the weinsrein actresses are the same. tgey all kept working with him. they understood the quid pro quo and wanted the money and fame. women do not keep hanging out and keep working with a horrible controllong rapist.
they benefitted because thet were willing to make the trade. they regret it years later because it makes them look bad, so then they change their mind and make it into something it wasn’t.
legally that is called “lying” and “fraud” and false charges, and they need to be charged for that and do time.

I work in Hollywood many, many years. And 3 of the guys I personally know who were on that set said she FULLY KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOING. Obviously Sharon just wants attention as she hasn’t aged gracefully. Saw her last year in October at a studio meeting she looked horrible.

In the Oprah Winfrey interview teaser posted in the article, she blames "the white male society" for feeling worthless (because of age). The truth of the matter is when she was in her heyday, she probably bedded every 'white' director/film maker there was; old, married or not, made no difference, thus making the older women, wives at that time feel like she does now. As most any teenage boy knows, if you just ask a girl to remove her underwear, she will. Right.
I also remember when they were shooting the MTV video, “Money for Nothing”, they used a lingerie model who kept demanding to take off her lingerie, because she would get paid more for a shoot in the nude. She was so annoying that they allowed her to do the nude shoot with the offer of more money, and then asked her to put her lingerie back on, and do the scene, figuring to just edit out the nude stuff later.
You need to warn a guy.

Gee I dunno...I’m sure I’m naive...but I think it would be hard to trick me into doing a nude scene. I’m sure it’s just me.
No one was as hungry for fame and attention as Stone was at that time. She probably came up with the idea herself.
