This is a very cool billboard add in Tokyo. I'm posting a short version from the twitterverse. There are longer versions making the rounds.
Ah, when TV was worth watching….
I’m reminded of that Gilligan’s Island where Gilligan was feeding the tame lion corned beef.
Yeah.
He occasionally says “big league”, and when he first said it, the “bigly” meme got started - probably at first by someone with poor hearing - but I’m positive it got fueled by Trump haters who wanted to make him sound like a buffoon.
Then, sadly, even Trump supporters started using it because they thought he really said it and that it was cute, I guess.
I’ve noticed over the years when he and his sons say “big league”, now they go out of their way to emphasize the “g” sound - but to no avail…
I try to correct it here on FR - I don’t know why - I guess it is a pet peeve of mine.
Anyway, I’m sure it got started by Trump-haters and leftists - to make him sound ignorant - just like the air-brushed picture of George Bush holding the phone upside down.
Sorry I took my annoyance out on you.. :-)
No annoyance taken.
W. was the worst at mispronunciation. Until now. Although Biden has an excuse. He is in advanced stages of Alzheimer’s and cannot remember how to think or speak clearly. Even with teleprompters, cue cards and aides speaking to a wire in his ear.
Our feline superiors prefer being served, so long as we know our place....
I found W’s constant mispronunciation of nuclear “nuculer” to be very embarrassing. I thought - people close to him have to be embarrassed too - how hard can it be to get him to correct just that one word?
Then I noticed something strange: almost everyone from Texas pronounces it “nuculer” - including some five star generals and PhD physicists /astronauts.
By the way, some of W’s supposed mispronunciations were more myth than reality. For example, “misunderestimate” and “strategery” were not words he actually used - they were made-up. And although saying “decider” instead of “decision-maker” is not wrong, it just doesn’t sound very proper.
They try to make any Republican sound stupid and evil.
I remember them making a HUGE deal out of Quayle mistakenly putting an e at the end of potato at some school thing - probably because the plural has an e.. big deal…. but they let Obama get away with saying there were 57 states and pronouncing the ps in “corps”.
Therefore, what?
I’m not going to take the train to Shinjuku to see it unless I’m going to Shinjuku for a heavy metal gig or dinner or shopping. It’s a big TV screen. You can get the same effect by posting the video on Free Republic.
Best post on this thread!
I think it turns on the advertisement
Hehehe
It was the way some ass wipe urinalist heard it, thought it would make a good word to use to mock Trump the candidate and was subsequently picked up by the mockingbird media. Unfortunately, when some here used it without the (/s) others just picked it up as being the word of DJT.
Came out of the first “debate” with Clinton.
Gojira!
/got that feckin BOC song stuck now
