“All of the variants other than Peru came from regions that effectively had zero vaccination at the time.”
...And Peru had used mostly the least effective (Chinese) vaccine.
Peru has been a leader in using Ivermectin for treatment, so maybe someone will start a similarly absurd rumor that Ivermectin use is breeding variants.
Variants just happen, rather randomly. The more cases you have, the greater the chance for mutations to occur.
“a similarly absurd rumor that Ivermectin use is breeding variants.”
Actually, assuming ivermectin has less ability to stop the growth of the virus, it would be a very good candidate to encourage variancy. Same can be said of China vacs: the more spread= the more mutation chances.
UK has started a ‘full-on’ study of ivermectin BTW.
Hope it’s good news. But not expecting it to be as efficacious as even the China vacs.
Has anyone seen reliable information regarding the mortality of the Peruvian variant? I’ve seen “news” reports as high as 10%, and others that mortality is about the same as other variants. I have to believe the 10% number reported by the Sun utter BS.
