At least 61 people were arrested Sunday in Chicago after an unruly crowd fought with officers, and jumped on cop cars at the end of Independence Day celebrations in the city, according to reports.
Those arrested – mostly young adults and minors – were among the hundreds of people who flooded the city's downtown streets. Bottle rockets were fired at officers during the unrest, one of whom was hit near the ear, police said. Another officer was injured during a scuffle with a suspect. Others in the crowd resisted orders to disperse, FOX 32 Chicago reported.
They were arrested for offenses including battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, a police spokesperson told the station.
"Sunday night was a disaster," said Ald. Brian Hopkins, according to Chicago's WBBM-TV. "We had massive chaos and mayhem downtown. We had guns in backpacks. Guns in pockets. A large number of firearms present."
In a separate incident, two Chicago cops were shot early Monday as police attempted to break up a crowd on the city's West Side.
A man fired into a crowd of revelers around 1:30 a.m., striking Patrina Wines, who took over as commander of the 15th District last year, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. A police sergeant also suffered a graze wound to the leg. Wines and the sergeant did not require hospitalization.(snip)

Chicago has a large and growing problem with what they’re calling “large group incidents.” Crowds of young blacks head downtown to shoplift, loot and assault passers by. It’s all fueled by social media and a complete lack of law enforcement and prosecution. There are simply no adverse consequences for the perpetrators, and they might come out of it with a new cellphone or sneakers or even a handful of hair extensions.
The Magnificent Mile was probably looted out, so the yutes moved a bit further south to the Loop.
Lightfoot thinks “gun violence” is a “public health issue” and that other states are to blame:“I believe that violence is a manifestation of systemic problems, and it’s a public health crisis,” she told the local PBS station last week. “When you see, in way too many neighborhoods, a lack of jobs, a lack of investment — these are historic, decades-long problems.”
In her view, other states are to blame. They have “very lax gun laws,” she said:
We know that federally licensed gun dealers are selling to criminals and straw purchasers…. We know that because of our proximity to states like Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan that … you can go across the border into these states, and if you’ve got the cash, you can buy literally military-grade weapons of any quantity and bring them back to Chicago.
Chicago Alderman Anthony Napolitano told Fox that Lightfoot’s remarks are “pure nonsense.”
“We have the strongest and the strictest gun laws in the state, if not the country,” he said, and towns near the state’s border have “nowhere near the amount of crime we do.”

Bottle rockets thrown at police officers is called “unrest”. Walking between the velvet ropes in the Capitol is called an “insurrection”.
Law enforcement isn't the issue. The Cook County States Attorney is a black woman named Kim Foxx who refuses to prosecute offenders of "low level crimes" such as looting, rioting, burning, shoplifting ... especially when the offenders are black.
Go figure.

If every black were to read Jason Whitlock's brilliant column, about how blacks are purposely being used as pawns to create division only to be tossed aside when the takeover is complete, there would be close to zero crime in the cities.
