Those are the best kinds of *deals*.....the ones not even planned!

Are you loving the very rural life?

How close are you to your favorite grocery store and the nearest freeway?

For some reason, I always look at those two factors πŸ˜‚πŸ˜¬

This farm was a GREAT deal! We bought it in the late 80's. The man that owned it was desperate to move back in with his wife so he let us have the 50 acres and the house for $79,000. LOL Since we made money on the old farm we have been debt free almost since we bought this one.

Yes, we have a very rural life and we love it. Except for my daughter that lives on the farm, my nearest neighbor is about 1/4 mile away. I think that's one reason I don't always understand what other conservatives are going through in larger less conservative places. We are pretty cocooned here away from a lot of the violence some of you see. There is not a lot of crime in our little valley because the criminals know they will be dead if they act out. They have to go off to the city to do that kind of stuff. We are all heavily armed and keep security cameras going 24/7. There is virtually no law enforcement that can be here faster than 45 minutes. It's not the locals that can be a problem but outsider criminals think we might be an easy target until they are shot. Several of our big tobacco farms bring illegals in to work the fields.

Our local Sheriff Dept. uses chain gangs to clean the roadsides. It's almost funny because they aren't really chained. Most of them are just good-old-boys that had too much to drink and got stupid. They always smile and wave as they march past the house. :-)

I'm 9 miles from the little town of Athens, as in The Battle of Athens that happened after WWII.

Did you see the first picture I posted from my front yard and the big ridge? There is another ridge behind us so the farm sits in a big protected valley. If you drive over the hill in the picture, I-75 is on the other side. We are rural and secluded in this valley but only 2 miles from I-75. We can't see it or hear it.

Our property taxes on this place are only $600 +/- a year. That's one of it's best features. LOL

Here is a funny. Travelers occasionally, but not often, get off of I-75 and turn the wrong way. They end up wandering in our valley. One day a big motorhome pulled up in our driveway to turn around and go back. Before they pulled out of the driveway the two people got out and started taking pictures. When they got back in the motorhome the passenger was holding a video camera outside the window to video the trip back to the Interstate. My husband and I were standing in the door watching and laughing. The man that was driving saw us and started waving and smiling. People that make a wrong turn and end up here think they have stepped back in time.
