Farms around us are all mowing hay right now. My daughter mowed our 35 acres of hay down. Most years we let people mow it for the hay but some years we just cut it down. We put up our own hay when we had horses and cattle but now that they are gone we don’t need it. Some of our neighbors do and if they ask we always let them have it.
Those country smells hang really close to the ground in that mist.
To me, rural farmland with hills and woods is the most beautiful of all. When very young I grew up in rural Connecticut (the old days) and remember it clearly - the smells, the fields, the swallows, the sounds and smells, the streams.
