Milley may be toeing the “corporate line” to retain his [IMO, very important] position in service to the USA. Biden is able to replace him for “insubordination”. As Chair of the JCoS, he is the tip of the spear that I believe the military is holding.
The JCoS is advisory; not part of the chain of command.
All are active duty with Command Authority in their respective branches.
If the military does not recognize a valid commander-in-chief and they swore an oath “to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”, one must draw their own conclusions.
