Matthew McConaughey, who is mulling a run for Texas governor, delivered a typically surreal July 4 message on Sunday, declaring that America is still “going through puberty” while also urging Americans “to keep maturing.”
The. Hollywood star delivered his address against the backdrop of an American flag while wearing sunglasses and sporting slick-backed hair.
“Happy Birthday America. Yes indeed, as we celebrate our independence today, as we celebrate our birth as a nation today that kick started our revolution to gain our sovereignty, let’s admit that this last year’s trip around the sun was also another head scratcher,” Matthew McConaughey said.
“But let’s also remember that we are babies, you know, as a country. We are basically going through puberty in comparison to other countries’ timeline, and we’re going to go through growing pains, we are going through growing pains. This is not an excuse to say this is just a reality.”

Matthew McConaughey criticizes Texas Gov. Abbott’s decision to lift mask mandate: ‘A little dumbfounded’
Texas native Matthew McConaughey is speaking out about Gov. Gregory Abbott’s decision to lift the state’s mask mandate as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues.
McConaughey stressed that wearing a face mask is “just this minor inconvenience” that can help save lives. He also suggested that it may not be the face-coverings so many around the country are taking issue with.
“I just want to remind, not only Texans, but everybody out there, it’s not the mask we’re afraid of, c’mon. It’s the word ‘mandate.’ Let’s not let the word ‘mandate’ get in the way of practical use of this little tool called a mask. It’s just a small inconvenience today for more freedom tomorrow,” McConaughey said.
With the understanding that its now Texans’ “choice” whether they wear masks or not to stop the spread of COVID-19, McConaughey implored “people around the world” to cover up.

What a maroon.
Well there’s a pimple in the White House
What a non American.
Might as well call it out.
F*ck off, Matt... And take your little anti-American Hollyweird friends with you.
This little speech is going to cost Matthew some popularity. He sounds exactly like Beto right here, lots of touchy feely rhetoric, lots of shop worn slogans. I expected Matt to be better prepared. Maybe this impromptu lecture is just one rookie mistake.
Matt is kind of old to be a precious snowflake.

FAIL. America is the first country that started AS AN IDEA. It wasn’t “just” about sovereigty. It was about limitations on goverment/governance and LIBERTY for all.
The founding fathers looked at other countries and looked at the problems they wanted to avoid.
Have these other nations matured into BETTER countries than America?
Is Mr. Alright Alright Heyyyy Heyyyyy saying that given time one day we will look more like the Socialist systems in Europe? Or the third world dictatorships around the globe?
Even long after America’s founding people LEFT the other countries to come to America.
Hollyweird denizens are not serious people.
That’s an inspiring post.
Class, personified!

The US is the oldest Democracy in the world (please don’t start with the Republic stuff, that’s besides the point I am trying to make here)
I knew there was a reason I liked her growing up!
He’s a good actor, but will never be Governor.
