The Confederate States of America were never diplomatically recognized as a joint entity by the government of the United States, nor by that of any foreign country.

Therefore, the full might of the US military going to war against fellow Americans has a well established and much respected precedent.

In point of fact, we haven't fought a congressionally declared war since WWII.

I'm sure that comforts the survivors in any of the countries we've shot up and bombed flat in the past 70 years or so...

You still haven’t addressed my one and only point.

We will not suddenly have a declaration of war one day.

It will be small things, then bigger things, then bigger things, until it escalates into full-scale shooting war.

We may already be in the beginnings of it.
