Colorado: America’s Leftist Laboratory
American Thinker ^ | 5 Jul, 2021 | Ghenghis Gary

The state’s been transformed from a place of rugged individualism to a leftist hothouse – but conservatives have a way forward.

Colorado. The name conjures images of dazzling vistas of snow-capped peaks, pristine rivers, and shimmering lakes. In fact, Kathleen Bates penned America the Beautiful’s lyrics as she stood atop Colorado’s fourteen-thousand-foot Pikes Peak in 1893. Who doesn’t recognize her stanza, “For purple mountain majesties, above the fruited plain?” In addition to its natural beauty and resources, Colorado has historically epitomized the spirit of The West both culturally and metaphorically. The rugged, hardworking, independent, self-reliant, conservative rural and agrarian ethic has been the ethos undergirding Colorado’s history, informing its future and guiding its populace. That is the Colorado known and loved.

Sadly, that is not today’s Colorado. In just a few brief years, Colorado has been transformed from a symbol of independence and self-determination into the liberal Left’s laboratory for social experimentation. Its citizens have become caged lab rats made to endure unrelenting torturous socialist/Marxist research procedures that are subsequently exported to and replicated by fellow travelers in other liberal states. Put simply, Colorado is the nation’s leftist-lab for social engineering. This state is now the political equivalent of the Nevada and Marshall Islands nuclear testing sites of the 1940s. Colorado is now politically radioactive.

Supreme Court justice Louis Brandeis popularized the saying that states “are the laboratories of democracy.” Justice Brandeis, regarding a case in 1932, wrote that “a state may, if its citizens choose, serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country.” Sorry, Justice Brandeis, but Colorado’s Dems are perverting your sentiment. Colorado is now the laboratory of Democrats - not Democracy; testing, then spreading their leftist experiments to kindred liberal states.

I hope that Colorado can fight the leftism, but I fear it is gone.

But save South Park. Kenny has died too many times already.

Colorado cannot be fixed until it’s entire election system is completely audited and revised. 90% registered voter turnout doesn’t happen in a state with multiple Indian reservations, rural populations, and off the grid people. Colorado is gone.

There are fingers around the world in it. It seems to follow a path, from drugs to feminism to homoactivism to animal worship (viewing animals as being like people, hating human beings in general) to NIMBYism (regulating against the neighbors’ right to build their homes),...

Virginia, Colorado and Michigan were the Soros test states.easily manipulated governments, easy borders to draw from, strong education draw, beautiful landscapes, legal marijuana and aging population.

Virginia's lost. Why? Too many recipients of government checks...paychecks,welfare,etc. Colorado's lost. Why? Kalifornia. Michigan was stolen last year buy a relatively small handful of clever, depraved poll workers in Detroit who knew that they didn't have to steal many. That's the danger of having an evenly divided country...it makes it very easy for either side to steal an election.

—while I don’t disagree with this analysis, IMHO it really got started with the influx form the east and west “left” coasts back in the late ‘60’s resulting in the election of Dick Lamm—

-it’s been downhill most of the way since—

Denver and a few other nearby leftist front range cities dominate Colorado elections. The rest of the state still leans right. While the cancer of socialism isn’t spreading geographically the influx of money and fellow travellers to the Denver area assures the evil will likely grow worse.

There is a permanent cycle states goes through, and each state is at one of these points:

1) Republicans make a state thriving and prosperous (ID, MT, ND, UT, AK)
2) Booming economy attracts internal and foreign migrants (GA, TX, AZ, NC)
3) Migrants make their new home just like where they left (CA, WA, OR, VA, CO)
4) State becomes an impoverished and crime ridden mess (MI, PA, WI, MD, MN)
5) State becomes on the poorest in the country and Republicans are elected to fix the mess (MO, AK, LA, WV)

Forty five years ago the most popular bumper sticker in Colorado was...

DON’T CALIFORNICATE COLORADO!

Well, no wit has been, and they are moving in on New Mexico and other Western States.

“Its citizens have become caged lab rats made to endure unrelenting torturous socialist/Marxist research procedures that are subsequently exported to and replicated by fellow travelers in other liberal states. “

Isn’t it’s citizens that have elected these people? They have no one to blame but themselves.

YAAYYYY! Some other pack of loonies get first place as the festering sore experimenting in non-democratic political crappola!!! Yaaay!

I’m living in CaCaLand and am tired of being part of the worst state.

Colorado, the stage is yours. Cliff is over there. A running jump is best.

The author lists a series of actions to retake the state.

Here’s a good start:

“We are America.” We are a party of all but especially the middle-class, so deliver to Americans specific pragmatic policies embracing hope, independence, and financial opportunity. Then, organize and rally them.”

Of course this will require so-called conservatives to get off their butts and do something, besides scream like little girls that all is lost.

It is hopeless....there will be no or just a few red states in ten years....

I left Colorado in 2000.....the invasion started in the 1990s

Just look at Austin Texas....

They leave California and are replaced by illegals so the population

stays the same...but the leftist have been moving for thirty years...

There like a cancer
