New York City’s notoriously incompetent election officials have not finished tabulating the votes in the June 22 Democratic primary, with its novel ranked-choice-voting system. But the first choices of voters - minus some 124,000 absentees - nevertheless reveal some important things about the differences between different segments of the Democratic coalition in America’s largest city.
These initial results were a clear repudiation of the term-limited left-wing Mayor Bill de Blasio. Coming in first was Brooklyn borough president and former NYPD cop Eric Adams with 31.7 percent, well ahead of top de Blasio aide Maya Wiley, with 22.2 percent. Third was Kathryn Garcia, de Blasio’s technocratic sanitation commissioner, with 19.5 percent.

Affluent gentry liberals, who jostle for places in private schools and in whose doorman-building neighborhoods violent crime is still rare, had more abstract concerns. They’re wary about the violent crime upsurge elsewhere in the city but, just as they like being masked even after being vaccinated, don’t like to be noisy about it.
Their first-choice candidate, endorsed by The New York Times, was Kathryn Garcia, a native of Brooklyn’s affluent Park Slope and an experienced administrator who quietly opposed the police. She carried Manhattan from Tribeca to Morningside Heights, plus the Brooklyn Heights-Prospect Park district in Brooklyn, Forest Hills in Queens and far-distant southern Staten Island.

Do-gooder, busy-body leftists that cannot allow anyone to live how they see fit; are the USA’s worst enemy.
We can smack down the little idiot communist college students, but the “moral” (what a joke!) busy bodies are the worst.

possible latino gangbanger challenges antifa, armed with rosary beads
Yep the latinos are fed up, as I believe blacks are, and will strike back.

“NYC mayoral race shows: It’s well-off whites - not minorities - who back far-left policies”
That is absolutely true. It’s their way of compensating the blacks and relieve themselves of the guilt they feel for having it made.
Leftist whites are the biggest enemy of the white race.
Crowded, expensive, dirty, crime-ridden, rat-infested and public transportation via taxis or the subway. Why in the world do people want to live there?
I am from the wide open west and live on a 30 acre cattle farm now in retirement.
I don't see what the draw is.
You’re a moron.
He’s a moron.

And then yours ....reason....well done
I think last election Trump got highest percentsge of the white votes anyone has ever gotten since it mattered
A few demographics moved up for Trump
Black and some Hispanic males ....particularly in Texas where tejanos tend to lean conservative anyhow....they’ve been there longer than blacks have or whites btw
None of which was a dam break
No question one third of whites are liberal idiots ....leftists
And most are northeast and west coast and urban enclaves and ....

I haven’t been to New York since the Seventies and Eighties. When I was there, there was a taste of wildness and danger that used to be pretty rare, here in the United States.
It’s a banal thing, but the first time I was in NY I saw a store, about half a block long, that sold buttons. Just buttons.
Whatever you were looking for—delicious, authentic food, fencing equipment, art, ballet, symphony, the Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East, many of Western Civilization’s best thinkers (at the time), wine ranging from good to spectacular, and pizza, pizza, pizza (I haven’t had a good pizza in the last 41 years)—you could find it in New York City.
Yes, there were many drawbacks, but back then I was the kind of guy that muggers took a second look at and backed off, so I did all right.
We drove cross country to New York City where we had our '51 Pontiac shipped. We traveled across the Atlantic on the ocean liner USS Independence to Spain and spent a week in NYC before we boarded the ship.
I just remember the city being huge, with buildings enclosing more people in one place, than I'd ever seen before or since. Being a small kid from out west, I felt intimidated by the size and the crowds. Nothing stands out in my memory about that week there except the hotel we stayed in. We were not allowed to stray out on our own.
I have never been back to NYC since and never had a desire to.
“I have never been back to NYC since and never had a desire to.”
Well, I certainly couldn’t recommend that anyone go there now.
Roger that.
Look around on the net.
Well-off whites offer free government things to minorities like a fisherman gives free worms to the fish.
Must be well armed.
At the July 4th bbq a couple libs were there celebrating how we are free of evyil Trump. One is excited about the new green subsidies that will finally take on evyil global warming and can’t wait to save money by having solar panels installed on the roof of his 3 million dollar house for free. We were talking solar earlier sans politics because I live off grid. When asked about the math involved I asked why he deserves welfare from tax payers like the other people there who barely have a pot to piss in and his waitress grand daughter. “Why should they pay for your solar panels? “
He changed the subject.
What a shock. The black guy won over the white women in black areas.
Much of that is negatives, but getting around without needing a car (which is problematic to park), and the close-by neighbors has always had an appeal to some. If you don’t need to travel to a job, you can get most of what you need within a few blocks, just like a small town.
It’s not for me, but I do understand some people like that closeness.
and pizza, pizza, pizza
The ROI for solar definitely goes way up when you consider electric drops into the cost.
